Maximum Elevation ®
MAXIMUM ELEVATION ® is the latest and most complete program, guaranteed to increase your vertical by 10-20 inches over the 20 week program. This program is designed to not only increase your vertical but increase your performance while in the air, plus protect your ankles, knees, hips and spine against injury, during both the take of and landing phases of either a 1 or 2 foot jump.
Following this 20 week program, designed with specially selected jumping exercises to target all major and minor muscles used in jumping (calves, quads, glutes, hamstrings, tibialis anterior, hip flexors, adductors, abductors, erector spinae and all 4 abdominal muscles), you will increase your vertical leap by 10-20 inches rivalling any jumps program on the market for increased elevation.
Where MAXIMUM ELEVATION ® sets itself apart is that specific attention to the core muscles will allow for increased stability and functionality while in the air.
MAXIMUM ELEVATION ® incorporates specific exercises to increase your bodies' core strength and stability in order to not only increase your jumping ability but what you do while you are in the air.
It is no longer good enough to just jump high; what can you do while you are in the air?
- Can you take a hit while pulling in a pass on the gridiron?
- Can you take a slap on the arm or a body bump while pulling in a rebound or taking a jump shot on the basketball court?
- Can you hold your position while an opponent drives a ball at 180mph off your hands and forearms while blocking on the volleyball court?
Increased core stability will help stabilize your body in the air allowing you to improve these and other skills. Increased core stability and functionality will help in four proven areas:
- Stability while unsupported: As soon as you take off from the ground your body goes into an unsupported state - increased core stability allows you to control your body and withstand external forces from altering your desired path and task (e.g.. Opponent pushing you off the ball, high speed projectile altering your positioning)
- Functional ability while unsupported: While in the air your ability to change position is limited by the forces that you can put on the body; an increase in functional core strength will increase your ability to change your body position, increase centre of gravity, change path of the centre of gravity, create rotational momentum, etc. which will allow you to fix a bad set in volleyball, avoid a defender while making a lay up or going for a dunk in basketball and avoiding a defender while pulling in a touch down pass in football.
- Protection of the Spine: The spine is a very delicate structure, increase power at take of and increase pressure upon landing from a higher jump is guaranteed to increase the strain on the vertebral column (in particular the lumbar region as it is greatly unsupported); an increase in core stability will serve as a protective mechanism for the vertebral column allowing for fewer low back problems such as chronic pain, an impingement on an intervertebral disc and even hairline fractures of the vertebrae. The spinal column is also put at risk in supported activities such as taking a hit in football and any quick changes of direction. Increased core stability is guaranteed to help reduce the effects of impact on the spine allowing you to take more hits in football and increase the force that you exert on opponents while hitting them.
- Balance and Stability in Supported Movements: Increased core stability and functionality will help perform skills requiring balance and control, such as playing any ball on the ground in volleyball (particularly outside of the base of support), any agility activity (defence in basketball, football, etc. and any quick change of direction). Any activity that requires you to be quick, on balance and in control of your body will see improved performance with increased core stability functional strength.
COMPLETE PROGRAM:
MAXIMUM ELEVATION ® incorporates all facets of a proper fitness program designed to make you jump higher and be more effective while in the air. The program is to be completed 5 days per week, on odd weeks you will complete the jumps sessions on day 1,3 &5 with the supplementary core and strength workouts on day 2 &4; on even weeks you will complete the jumps sessions on day 2, 3 &: 4 with the supplementary core and strength workouts on days 1& 5. Each workout should follow the following formula for success and safety.
| PHASE 1: | MAXIMUM ELEVATION ® will start out with a proper functional warm designed to prepare the muscles for the activity it is attempting to train (JUMPING) |
| PHASE 2: | The MAXIMUM ELEVATION ® program then moves into some dynamic flexibility exercises which are designed to prepare the muscles for the stretch contraction phase of the plyometric action of jumping |
| PHASE 3: | The MAXIMUM ELEVATION ® work out, specially selected jumping exercises with specific sets and reps to allow your body to train safely while progressing successfully though the exercises and increasing your vertical in a safe and functional manner |
| PHASE 4: | MAXIMUM ELEVATION ® will finish with a proper cool down, a light jog (either on the spot or around a gym or track) for a minimum of 3 minutes followed by the same dynamic flexibility exercises completed in the warm up phase (1). |
| Note: | On Supplementary days, PHASE 1, 2 & 4 remain the same; PHASE 3 you will replace the MAXIMUM ELEVATION ® jump workout with the core and strengthening exercises. |
Every two weeks you will submit your vertical jump test results online. Your results and progression will be monitored, plus charts and graphs will be posted for so that your can follow your progress!
